We started off the season with a not so great start. WPI being our first qualifying competition was out of the normal for us considering it is typically our last competition before districts (if we were to qualify). That said, it was a bit of a set back to see the team not do so well. After that we took the long trip to UVM where we placed 18th before alliance selection. We held our breath through alliance selection before being invited to join alliance 1 with captain's 5687 Outliers, and 4909 Bionics. This is the dream team alliance which lead us to win OUR FIRST BLUE BANNER (that means we won the competition)! I know we're pretty excited too. Along with this victory, we were awarded the imagery award, in honor of Jack Kamen, and one of our dean's list semi-finalists, Edith Tufts, moved forward to compete at districts! You could say overall there was a massive improvement. From a competition with just 6 district points to a competition with 48 district points, we quaified for New England District Championships. Here we unfortuately were not selected for an alliance but we did have a great time cheering on other teams!
The 2024 game for FRC was Crescendo. Crescendo was a game with multiple scoring spots. The match ends with hanging on a metal chain. The team participated in our first qualifier at URI which left us with mixed emotions. Qualification matches placed us in last place but we were selected onto the 2nd alliance, with 4909, Bionics, and 1058, PVC Pirates, which made us finalists! The furthest we've ever been in playoffs! Our 2nd qualifier was at WPI. A completely different competition from URI. We placed 6th after qualifications and were 5th alliance captains with 2370, IBOTS, and 9101, Green Mountain Robotics. We didn't get far in the playoffs but it was so much fun being alliance captains. After all that we went to the New England District Championship!
For Rebar's first competition at Ponaganset High School, we ended in 26th place and on the 4th seeded alliance with team 166 Chop Shop and 4101 The Bionics. The competition was our best of the season and we did well in the elimination rounds until we had an unfortunate mistake that knocked us out. Our second and last competition of the 2023 season was the WPI event. We were in 25th place at the end. And were chosen to compete with 9405 Green Mountain Robotics and 8567 Ultraviolet. We were the 4th seeded alliance again. Our season may not have been as long this year as it was the year before but we still built an awesome robot and had a personal great season.
Our team came in 13th place after being the 1st pick of alliance 7, and came home with the Rookie Inspires Award. The Rookie Inspires award is an award that celebrates a rookie team’s outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering and engineers, both within their school, as well as in their community. In our 2nd competition at WPI we won two awards. One being the Rookie All Star award and the other being Highest Seeded Rookie Team. After this event we qualified for district championships! Our final competition in Springfield we left with Highest Seeded Rookie Team award. This was the district event located at the Big E venue. Shortly after this event our team was invited to go to World Championship in Houston, Texas. Due to lack of transportation resources and short notice we had no choice but to respectfully decline. Our team looks forward to to next year's challenge!
Team 8544 came in 16th place within the Iron Group at the 2021 Infinite Recharge At Home Challenge with a total score of 287.23 points. We completed 3 out of 5 challenges, these being the Hyperdrive, Interstellar Accuracy, and Power Port events.
